San Gimignano

How can you NOT want to live in a countryside like this?
We're atop the Torre Grossa, which is the only tower in town that you can climb. The towers came about as a representation of the town's most noble families. They were a symbol of wealth and power and at one point, there were as many as 72 towers in the town. They even had a major family rivalry comparable to the Montagues and Capulets. Only it was between the Guelphs and Ghibellines, and I don't think there were any "star-crossed" lovers.
