Gran Canaria

We were in Las Palmas, which is the big touristy, big city town. The beach was pretty normal. The air was warm and the water was cold. We had a pretty lame dinner on the boardwalk. But it was pretty fun wandering around the streets. Out on the beach, you get to look in two different directions and see these mountains climbing out of the sea. The feeling that you're in a city, in the middle of a natural phenomenon (a volcano), on an island in the middle of the ocean is pretty intense.
