Not only did Zia wander around amongst everyone happily, she also would wander off by herself happily. Having everyone play with her toys certainly made all of her stuff a lot more appealing. It seems like the value placed upon the opinion of peers is an inherent trait amongst humans - and it starts early. At least it hasn't manifested itself as peer pressure, yet. But you can definitely see why peer pressure is so powerful. If a peer is playing with a toy, it automatically gains value because they find it interesting. Even though you yourself may not have found it interesting and never bother to play with it - despite the fact that it is available for you every day.
