Siena

Siena pics

The next morning, we returned to the Palazzo Publico. It's not really a museum. They have these huge frescoes on the walls in the different rooms. This is a detail of the Simone Martini fresco of the equestrian portrait of Guidoriccio da Fogliano, general of the Sienese Republic, in ceremonial dress. Honestly, it does fill you with pride and hope and all that patriotism and support in your leader. Fogliano appears so majestic compared to the two towns that you can't help but think he's going to conquer whatever he chooses.
