Gran Canaria (Again)

An excerpt from my journal:
Last night was Michael against the bugs. I had opened the windows and when we came back from dinner, there were mosquitoes and flies and huge water bugs and crickets and spiders and grasshopper looking things - all invading our room. Michael got his flip-flop and began the battle. For two hours, he was swatting bugs with exclamations of joy, "got it!" and sounds of despair, "aww... missed!" accompying him the entire time. It kind of feels like we're on a safari, what with all the bugs and then we have a view of the mountains and the camellos. We think that's why there's so many bugs. We're right next to the camellos. It's the mosquitos that perplex us. There's no huge body of water around - so why did they ever show up? No river, no pond - nothing. Hmm... It's funny.
