In our attempt to find a flea market, we stumbled upon this cathedral - Santa Croce. Michaelangelo's remains are kept here. As well as the remains of some other great artists. We discovered some works by Donatello, Giotto, and Gaddi. There were two chapels full of frescoes by Giotto that had been whitewashed in the 1700s. Then they tried to restore them in the 1800s. They were pretty badly damaged. Funny how art changes esteem like that. The artist was famous when he created the work for the church and then people wanted a more "modern" look and now they're being uncovered again. We do the same thing, you know. We get bored of looking at something and decide to replace it. A work of art was looked at differently back then.
