Our Colorado Vacation: Cumberland Pass

Our Colorado Vacation: Cumberland Pass pics

We finally made it down the dirt road about forty-five minutes later. We still had a ways to go, but we ran into a spot with what looked like burnt trees. Later on in the trip, we met a couple who worked with the forestry. They said that every now and then they had to start forest fires otherwise the trees would become so dense that it would begin to inhibit growth and life in the forests. This is one such example of the little forest fires. Right across from here was a little stop that stagecoaches used to rest at. Nothing remained of what might have symbolized the stop. It's odd that you can be standing on a spot that involved so much activity a century ago. I bet their stagecoaches were about as big as Grommit.
